India, Pakistan: Media Cooperation For Peace

Sans Serif reports that two media giants – Jang from Pakistan and The Times of India from India – have joined hands in a peace initiative called ‘Aman ki Asha’ on the first day of the new year. The aim is to foster greater understanding between people of the two countries and to give peace a chance.

ASALAM-O-ALAIKUM GURJIT BHAI! You gave very strong points about your opinion regarding the unjustification of the creation of India and Pakistan as two separate nations. But, besides the other economic progress there are some other things which make it justified for the pro-partition people, i must say and they are; they say that in India they cannot sacrifice a Cow because the Indians have so much regard for their GAO MATA…so, it is not possible to live with them in such conditions becoz they can even start killing. You said that good and bad elements are present everywhere but it is those bad elements who can spoil and are spoling the image of the whole society. I agree with your points which you gave about a unified subcontinent. But, these things are also very important. Secondly, you tlaked about the Madrassaz and Mullahz. Yes, the Madrasaz are openning due to the non-state actors and that is the main reason for insurgebcy in Pakistan and we are trying to combat it and INSHALLAH we will be successful. But, not all the Madrassaz teach the same thing. The students and the teacher are very innocent over there. They don’t even know how to be rude with someone else if they mock at you. Seriously, i have seen them. Secondly, those madrassaz are not giving them religious teachings, they are aslo teching them science subjects as well and it has become compulsory for them to take the other coursez as well for their better life. They are being taught to take life and religious issues along with them. So, they do not focus on one thing. ANd, there are extremists in Pakistan as well. I can’t say anything about them until every individual has full knowlege about every issue and also how to snub these extremists…So, we should aware people about every issue…
Besides our discussion, i’m also very happy to discuss the issue and you made my view clear. Thank you. ALLAHAFIZ

    Dear Irum Bhai,
About the issue of GAU MATA. I want to know what was happening in British India when Muslims used to slaughter cows and the other nationalities tolerated. What is the diffetent now. I am not 100% sure if Muslims are allowed to slaughter cows in certain area where they have there own slaughter houses and they are in majorty, like in Utter Pardesh, Kerala, and few other provinces.
Mere Bhai again this is all politics. People change with the situations. The main idea is to make efforts to bring peace in the area, whether it is one country or two countries.
Communism is not allowed in Islam because Communist brothers don’t believe in the existance of God, and for Muslims, the person is Kafir who does not believe in God. If Pakistan can live in a very friendly relations with China, and people of Pak. are of proud of it, why can’t they live in peace with India, who has more muslims and the whole country is religous, does not matter which religion they belong to.
Pakistan has a double standard just like America. America preaches democracy and FREE WORLD to the rest of the world, and they will go and attack any country which do not have democracy or the country is run by a dictator, whether it is Irag, Afghanistan, Panama or Nicaragua or Greneda etc. America is the biggest business partner with China. The ) Americans ) do Billions of dollars of business with China and China, they know is Comm. countries, and they (Chines ) have the worst record of HUMAN RIGHTS. They slaughtered so many innocent people and the tanks ran over young students because they were protesting against the policies of the Govt, and still America has buddy buddy relations with her and do lots of business with China as I mentioned above. Pakistan is muslim country and preaches islam to the whole world but also has buddy buddy relations with China, who don’t believe in God and religion is against the law. What do you think can be a possible obstacle on the path of peace and harmony if both sides want to live in peace.

But do you think the other nations like England and US and their other likewise friends would let it make possible to have peace in the region ?. Let us also think about this issue too.

If I were a Pakistani, living in Pakistan and had the same kind of heart like you do who wants peace in the world and always wish to have peace in India and Pakistan, I would do some efforts to achieve this mission of peace. To do all this you need courage and some people of the same opinions with the same mission with a passion and have meetings together, write to national papers, talk to people, go on T.V shows and try to change the minds of the people and the Govt., use the people power and that day will not be far off, when the goal of making peace will be achieved. It does not happen overnight rather it takes years and years of hard work. They say Rome was not built in a day. India did not get its freedom in days or months. It took almost took a century to achieve it.
I am myself trying my best to do this and so can you and your friends. Khudaa Haafiz…….

May Allah bring peace to Pakistan and to the whole world. Ameen…………….Gurjit Proothee

Yes, you are rite that it will take sometime to bridge the differences and clear the wrong perceptions. So, we can hope for the best and INSHALLAH every weak state that is being exploited by the strong powers will get justice….I know it is very easy to say like this….but, if we will stay positive and stay focussed on our goals, then we will surely achieve our target….ALLAHAFIZ
