  Hardly an objective view.

  First, you have to consider the learner’s first language – Chinese might be difficult for any westerner but not so for, say, a Japanese.

  Even for westerners though, Japanese has three distinct sets of characters plus the complexity of levels of politeness that Chinese doesn’t. So how can Chinese be more difficult?

  Greg, you are right that the title of these posts is silly, it is just meantto catch the eye. But look inside the articles and you will see they are about much more than that.

  The competition of “most difficult language” is just a gimmick to make them more interesting.

  Plus: it is an objective view and it is duly justified in the articles, that under certain defined conditions Chinese is the most difficult language, regardless of the linguistic background of the student.
