Havana Times reports that Cuban blogger Yoani Sanchez has been denied a visa to leave the island, even though she “continues to be allowed to publish her Generation Y page with her acrid criticisms of the Cuban government”; diaspora blogger Uncommon Sense says that shouldn't stop people from honouring her: “The dictatorship may succeed in placing an embargo on Sanchez's right to travel freely, but it cannot silence her…read her blog, and tell others to do the same.”

Yoani Sanchez should have been given an exit permit to travel to New York, just as the New York Philharmonic should have been granted an exit permit, a.k.a. travel license to travel to Cuba.
Better yet, both governments should allow freedom of travel to their citizens.
