Egypt: Tune in to the Naglaa El Emam Show

Naglaa El Emam, a lawyer and head of a human rights organization, was first seen on TV claiming to be Noha Roshdy's lawyer when sexual harasser Sherif Gommaa was sentenced to three years behind bars, hard labor, and was also ordered to pay 5,001 Egyptian pounds fine to Noha Roshdy Saleh for groping her in the street.

This is the same Naglaa El Emam who decided to appeal in favor of the harasser Sherif Gommaa after she found out that Noha Roshdy was born in Jaffa and carries an Israeli passport.

We are still talking about the same Naglaa El Emam who invited Arab youth to sexually harass and rape Israeli women as a form of resistance.

Naglaa El Emam made headlines again when she converted to Christianity and changed her name to Catherine. Hazeena 3ala Masr (Sad for Egypt) wrote:

The forces of darkness have launched a ferocious attack against Dr. Sayed El Qemany and lawyer Naglaa (Catherine) El Emam. The former for the state award and the later for converting to Christianity.

She wonders:

The question is: Why all the attacks? Is an award that is worth less than 40,000 US Dollars and the converting of a lawyer worthy of all the fuss?

She concludes:

The award and the conversion are of no weight; the forces of darkness are not interested in the financial worth of the award and they fully understand that one Muslim less will not make a difference. The true motives behind their well-aimed attacks are intimidating anyone who dares follow their tracks. They want to ensure that the State does not award a free-thinker, that liberals keep their thoughts to themselves, and that people who convert never come out of the closet – other wise we will have hunderds of Qemanys and shameless converts.

Naglaa El Emam was prevented from leaving Egypt until her lawyer appealed, Hazeena reports

Peter Al Naggar, the convert's lawyer, announced the Minister of Interior's decision to allow his client traveling rights after issuing a new passport for her. Naglaa was previously denied the right to travel for fear of her escape. The decision to prevent Naglaa from leaving Egyptian grounds followed her appointment as the head of “Jesus Liberated Me” missionary organization in Egypt that was founded by convert Mohamed Rahouma.
