For the first 23 years of my life, I lived in South Africa. After that, two years in Brazil and Colombia. The remaining 35 were spent in the United States of America. I have been a songwriter since the age of 14, without success to speak of. One song of mine I would dearly like to see get out into the world is an upbeat view of the Africa of my youth (now gradually disappearing). It’s called “Down in Africa” and it’s on YouTube, for any who might be interested.
Somehow, we managed to get all the capital cities of Greater Africa in there (we stopped short of the Seychelles). Ideally, it would be the kind of song teachers used to help kids remember the countries and capitals of Africa and gain some idea of how vast and diverse the continent is.
