Id:zyesuta analyses the problem of the high rate of suicides among the Self-Defence Forces (自衛隊 Jieitai) officials. The number of cases was particularly large in 2006 while it seems to have been slowly decreasing since then.

Unfortunately, I don’t speak Japanese very well. Does the web page tell us why the suicide rate is so high?
Do they have such hard training? Or are they involved in any wars and suffer from post-war traumata? German soldiers who have been in Afghanistan often suffer from these traumata :-(
Stefan, the post I quoted is just the first of three on the subject that the blogger plans to write in the next weeks. In it he doesn`t give any further explanation about the causes. He just mentions bullyism, hard training and post-war trauma as plausible causes for the high rate of suicides.
