Jordan: Why was Marwa killed?

Jordanian Naseem Tarawnah discusses the recent murder of Egyptian Marwa El-Sherbini, 32, in a courtroom in Germany in front of her three year old son and says: “This case was so mind-baffling when I read it a few days ago and I still haven’t been able to wrap my mind around it.”

West is full of double standards and hyprocrisy, If it was some western women in some Muslim court, There would thousands of call for nuking Mecca, and western terrorist armies would have destroyed 10-15 countries in middle east by now.

Next time there is any terrorist attack on west, My arguments will be “So what ? you people already kill thousands on babies in womb”, “So what ? witch hunting is still going on in Christian Afria”, “So what ? Much more people get killed in gun violence and car accidents in west”.

But with this incident it is clear that no body in world is going to believe western rheotics about women right any more when they talk about Neda or any Afghan women, It will all be seen as western propaganda against Muslims so that Western armies could destroy and enslave more Muslim countries and ethnic clease Muslims from Europe as they did to Jews.

I am a foreigner living in Germany and I am really shocked by the completely wrong reaction of people to this event. The killer is not German! He is Russian. There are thousands of racially motivated attacks in Russia and racial insults are so widespread that nobody even pays any attention. There is a common opinion that all the “colored” people are inferior to white. Obviously, that guy was very irritated that in Germany all the people receive the same treatment and he was outraged that it was even possible to be fined for such an insult! In Russia, he would have received no penalty for that. Please do not confuse it with Islamophobia!
It is very ignorant to group Russia and Europe together.

I would give you an equivalent example. A friend of mine was subjected to several nasty comments from Arab men in France. Just as in the case above those immigrants did not accept the values of the society where women and men have equal rights. They were deeply convinced that the women with western style clothes are inferior and acted in the same way they would act at home toward such a woman. In this case, it would be very wrong to say that discrimination against women is rooted in French culture as it would be wrong to say that nationalism is popular in Germany .

Sometimes this inability to understand another peoples culture and be tolerant leads to the terrible tragedies like this one. I feel very sorry for what happened and I hope that the killer will be punished severely. But being able to understand the causes and draw the right conclusions is also very important.
Thank you for reading my post.

I guess it happened because its not Hitler’s Germany..as he said:

“I could have annihilated all the Jews in the world, but I left some of them so you could know why I was killing them.”

TO Malik, your tone and logics almost look like Olga’s.
Please many Muslims are fed up from the dogmatic style and the superiority attitude when they are arguing any conflict that involves Islamophobia. Please read the details of all the events relevant to this Human Tragedy.
I emphasize read details (all details), thoroughly and pragmatically. Trusting your sound analysis you will attain fair judgement. to enable you doing this homework, like in any educational institute, change the guise of the lady and iterate putting any other alternative that are existing in Germay . Put even probability weight to each alternative and see the results by yourself. Here is also some facts in order that you do not deceive yourself unadverdently :-
    1) The man was by- passing the garden. why did he interfere with a lady playing with her son. Should he has to interfere for any normal reason ,why he did not pay attention to the harm his interference will cause to the child .(I will not raise this point when it come to the moment when he stabbed her later !!!
    2) The man stabbed her 18 times (eighteen), if this normal killing would’t couple of stabs are enough !!!
    3) Why the German guard (officer), whether he was called from outside the room or not, why he shot the husband (not the guilty white man) do you see !!
    4) Why the Court Spokeswoman indifferently;coldly; reported the abnormal massacre. Imagine the scene!
    5) Is the European media in addition to the German one are so disabled to notice the Masochistic crime !!
Are they inefficient to sense such exiting tragedy…!!!
    6) where is the public reaction immediately at time!!
    7) Again as a training session for honest participants, we leave here a chance to add their smart thought.

You did not understand my comment correctly. I do not deny an obvious fact that the man was driven by racial hatred and islamophobia. I just wanted to emphasize that he is himself immigrant. He might have spoken German much worse or had much less idea about German society and culture than Marwa. You are so overwhelmed with emotions that you simply ignore this fact. The world consists of many more parts than Muslim and all the rest which is against it.
I also do not object your points 1) and 2). Yes he was driven by racism and it is very common in Russia. 3) german officer might have dealt with this first time in his life. Most probably he was under strong shock. I do not rule out the fact that he might have had some unconscious prejudice against non-white person but it is very subjective.
    4) well this is the way Nordic people are. She might have taken some tranquilizers before. You cannot conclude that she was not shocked with what has happened because of that. 5) this is also subjective. i think there was a strong reaction in the world and many started recalling German history. i do not understand why media is silent when neo-nazi skinheads kill hundreds of non-europen looking people in Russia every year?
