Armenia: Fugitive newspaper editor detained, starts tweeting

Tzitzernak2 posts a video of fugitive newspaper editor and opposition activist Nikol Pashinian turning himself in after a more than a year on the run following last year's post-election unrest in Armenia. Meanwhile, @unzippedblog reports that @nikolpashinyan has started tweeting from detention in the building of the National Security Service (NSS) in Yerevan.

Hmm, but if he’s doing it, it does not seem to be showing up on Twitter. Just comments about his doing it, so far. Also, what’s to stop someone else from posting in his name . . . ?

  • All very good points and not least because it says on Twitter that it’s posted from web and not via SMS. This could mean that he’s accessing the web from phone in detention, but would he have one and be able to communicate whenever he wants?

Anyway, I have to post links to what people are saying online which is why I didn’t say Pashinian is tweeting, but rather that Unzipped reports that…

The comments section is where we can dissect this, so thanks for your opinion. I suspect that someone is ghost-writing it for him, or at least quoting him. If anyone knows different, please leave a comment.
