Unfortunately, the New Horizon piece delivers arguments that run counter to established scientific thought which say dams are harmful to the environment. Even the World Commission on Dams which had representatives of the Dam building companies on the committee admitted this. There are too many ifs and buts in the piece.

For an objective analysis based on the Indian EIA report on Tipaimukh dam, and a thorough study of the downstream ecology, I would suggest this Daily Star piece.
