I’m wondering the same thing. Recent news articles have referred to Bahrain as an emirate but it’s a kingdom! Emir in Arabic means “prince”. The UAE is a collection of emirates and is not a kingdom. Only Oman is a Sultanate (sultan meaning “authority”) but I don’t know how that’s different from a king. Can’t wait to figure it out.
