Africa: Journalists Blogging From Africa

Take at blogs written by journalist blogging from Africa. The list is compiled by Scarlett Lion, “I'd like to make a sort of ongoing list of foreign correspondents in Africa who blog. Feel free to add to the list in the comments section and eventually I'll put out a revised full list, complete with your suggestions.”

  • I find this post rather patronising. The whole ploriferation of local blogs and citizen journalism in and about Africa by Africans is what needs to be promoted. A foreign correspondant putting a list of other foreign correspondants is old school. Times have changed and Global Voices is testimony to that. I have no problem with whatever colour the correspondant is. I have a problem with promoting something that reinforces the racial tracks that has largely dominated what people read and by whom in the west. Have a look at the list Scarlett Lion puts together – what’s up with that?? What about all the local journalists and citizen journalists that are blogging.
I am not suprised to see a blog post like this – what I am suprised to see is Global Voices picking it up…
