Jamaica, Spain: Considering the Environment

As the King and Queen of Spain visit Jamaica, Snailwriter [1] is concerned about what an alliance between the two countries could mean for the environment: “‘Spanish hotels have become part of the geography of Jamaica and they are here to stay.’ And that is the tragedy. When the economic downturn affects the viability of these hotels, after our people have been denied access to their own coastline, after our wetlands, coral reefs and sea grass beds have been destroyed…we Jamaicans will be left with the concrete.”
