A less noticed sign of media troubles in Costa Rica: A couple weeks before La Nación made its announcement, The Beach Times , an English-language weekly based in Guanacaste, shut down after five years of very solid local and national reporting. English language media, which has a long tradition in Costa Rica, is particularly vulnerable if tourism continues to drop as well.
Does anyone know whether The Guanacaste Journal is still alive?
