Support Global Voices: Win a ROFLCon Ticket

Categories: North America, U.S.A., Citizen Media, Announcements

If you're a fan of everything on the internet that makes you “roll on the floor laughing” (ROFL) you're probably familiar with several of the invitees to ROFLCon's [1] party in New York on January 24, 2009 [2], like The Tron Guy [3], Obama Girl [4], and the owner of Sockington [5] (the Twittering cat). Tickets to “ROFLThing” are sold out, but by bidding on one of the last five tickets right now [6], you can help support Global Voices.

Four more tickets [7] are going to support the Electronic Frontier Foundation [8], Big Cat Rescue [9], Internet Archive [10], and New York Cares [11].

ROFLCon is a tribute to internet memes [12] and what makes them work (see a review in Wired Magazine [13] of one of the original ROFLCon gatherings). If you have absolutely no interest in silly internet memes or live far away from New York, you can still help Global Voices by making a donation [14] to support our work. We're serious about citizen media, but we also know how to have fun.

What would Sockington think you should do?
