Spain: Global Voices Lingua Partner Nominated for Web Award

Many of the Global Voices Lingua sites have been partnering with other media websites to exchange RSS headlines as a way to reach more readers in more languages. The recent collaboration between Global Voices in Spanish and the Spain-based Periodismo Ciudadano [es] (Citizen Journalism) has been mutually beneficial.

Recently, Periodismo Ciudadano was nominated in the 3rd annual Las Mejores Miradas [es] competition sponsored by TVE (Spanish television) in the category of “Best Internet Project.”

Other projects nominated include Soitu [es], Rockola [es], Vertele [es]. and Minube [es].

On their website, Periodismo Ciudadano describes itself as striving be the “reference point” for citizen journalism in the Hispanic world. The founders and collaborators of the site have been involved in various journalism, online media and telecommunications projects:

Periodismo Ciudadano es un lugar para el debate. Desde estás páginas ofreceremos toda la información y recursos que existen sobre periodismo ciudadano, noticias de medios ciudadanos y blogs que tratan estos temas. Es un proyecto abierto a todos los que deseen participar enviando noticias, enlaces, comentando, dialogando o debatiendo sobre esta nueva forma de hacer periodismo.

Periodismo Ciudadano is a place for discussion. In these pages, we offer all of the information and resources that exist regarding citizen journalism, news about citizen media and blogs about these topics. It is a project open to everyone that would like to participate by sending news, links, comments, discussion or debate about this new way of journalism

Voting for the competition is currently taking place on Tras La 2 website through the end of January [es]. Winners will be awarded in March.
