Sri Lanka: Attack on Sirasa TV

Dare To Be Different terms the attack on the Sirasa TV premises at Pannipitiya, Sri Lanka as “the nastiest ever attack on the media freedom in Sri Lanka”. The blog says: “The motives were apparent. Somebody badly wants to silence Sirasa TV.” Lakbima blog, like some other Sri Lankan blogs, thinks that Sirasa TV promotes terrorism and hints that it might be an insider job.

Serves them right. This is not an attack on media freedom. this is an attack against an institute which has been systematically destabilizing Sri Lanka’s society through it’s various programs and supporting terrorism. \Attack against media freedom\..Buh..If anyone thinks that media freedom let them do anything under the Sun and get away with it, they are sadly mistaken. People of this country knows what media freedom should be and what it should be not.

Good job dude. SO much for free speech. Its because of people like you, groups like Taliban can exist. I personally do not like Sirasa so I choose not to watch it. No one is asking anyone to watch it. If there are a lot of who watch it then its their problem. Throwing bombs at it is not the answer.

  • Their studio has been shifted to slave island
the damaged place has been given to someone else.
So, this could be an insurance scam

  • Very well done….Sirasa TV goes behind people and attack them with all sorts of crap news and destroy their future if any body stand against SIrara TV…this is the best way to deal with this Terrorist TV.

Now, What a news to hear…Firstly I am having a puzzle in my mind about this broadcast. What’s the message that they have given to the public. So call \Ran Depaya\ promoting indian sarees and allways promoting anger/sorrow in day to day life and also family garbage, you go to bed not with a dream as sannasgala says. But with stress…bullshit….and bla bla bla…Time has come atleast now to have a meaningful TV station. Of course the SSS brought some village youths to stage. If not for internal politics with few so call media guys in it,it would have been a better show.Eg; Melbourne show….Anyway who ever does this had done a favour to the public for not to have a vulnerable future for youths in mother SL.

personal likes and dislikes are not what is counted here. Destroying property and violence against individuals/organizations should not be condoned.I love Sri Lanka and do not want to live any where else but acts of this nature makes you wonder how it is possible for any section of our society to behave in such uncivilized manner. Tolerance and kindness are two main teachings of all religions and predominantly Buddhist society of Sri Lanka. This act of violence should be condemned and people concerned punished severely.

The Mtv/ Mbc attack was orchestrated by them selves. They had already moved all important equipment to the there new studio complex at Ratmalana (old S-Lon factory) so that the Depanama complex can be given/ rented out to Airtel. All this was done to descredit the government and to take away focus from the victorious armed forces and most of all to upgrade their equipment with the US $ 6,000,000 insurance claim (as they did before). Even after a petrol bomb was thrown at the studios 3 days ago, why did they have only 2 security guards on duty??????? WHY????

    The truth hurts!
