Japan: A possible solution to the economic crisis

Categories: East Asia, Japan, Economics & Business, Ideas

Wishing a happy new year to everybody, Nobuo Ikeda [1] makes remarks about Japan's destiny in 2009, following the global financial crisis in the last months of 2008. Professor Ikeda believes that it would be better for Japan to go through a drastic and radical economic crisis at all levels once and for all, instead of a partial one as has been happening since the Bubble economy [2] burst in the 90s. By finding the energy and resolution to surmount the crisis, this would enable the country to start a new age of growth (as it did in the decades after the 2nd World War [3] [ja]).
