Kumusta is a “Filipino” derivative to the Spanish “Como estas” which would apparently make “Kumusta ka” quite redundant with the word “you” (ka) since “you” would already be in “kumusta.”
Tagalog + localized Spanish and English words + token inclusion of seldom used words from limited selection of local languages = “Filipino.” That’s the sad state of what is considered to be the Philippines’ national language.
