Pakistan: Blame Game On Mumbai Terror – The Blogosphere Speaks

Recent terror attacks in Mumbai have seriously disturbed and complicated the on-going peace dialogues between India and Pakistan. Where Indian officials are not hesitating to point fingers to Pakistan, the Pakistani officials have been denying Pakistan's involvement in the attacks. Pakistan authorities have further requested not to play the blame game and have offered their full support in the investigation. While all these are happening the Pakistani Blogosphere has a lot of important things to say:

Dr. Awab Alvi at Teeth Maestro says:

What has also sadly transpired within the following day is that the ‘official’ blame game circus is in full swing, contrary to my initial message where I expressed my relief that Pakistan was not being blamed since Deccan Mujahideen were taking the blame, but much to my dismay the good news [?] was short lived and very soon the Indian government was livid at the Pakistani intelligence agencies for having masterminded this attack, in all honesty it might even had been the ISI [ironically we cant trust them either] but whosoever created the mess, Indian or Pakistanis it must be condemned at all costs.

M Junaid Khan at Pro-Pakistan publishes a newsletter that was being distributed publicly:

Even when the shootings were going on in hotels, Indian media and army were blaming ‘Pakistan’ for the attacks. The game is clear and sinister. The Indian Intelligence have diverted the global attention towards another issue where they would blame Pakistan for this slaughter and use Barack Obama’s doctrine of attacks on Pakistan to encircle Pakistan from both sides. It is such a shame that Pakistani media is not highlighting this issue and is only repeating what Indians want the world to see and believe.

tperacha at Lahore Metblogs writes his reservations:

Times of India is already reporting that Pakistani militants have been captured and that this whole incident could not have happened without support from across the border. Now I am sure that similar to 2001 Indian Parliament Attack, NADRA issued ID cards will be found in possession of all these terrorists and then it requires not much wit to figure it out! The western media are also jumping on the bandwagon and trying their best to portray this as another al-qaeda attack.

Maybe we should also borrow a page from our neighbor’s book and God forbid, next time when we have a terrorist attack in Pakistan, simply blame it on RAW and get on with our lives. In fact a lot of analysts believe that foreign elements have played part in the recent attacks in Pakistan, but unlike the Indian government, our government doesn’t have the balls to blame any external element.

Adil Najam at Pakistaniat shows his solidarity with Indians in these words:

I, too, am a Mumbaikar today.

I wish I could reach out and for just one moment hold the hands of the woman in this AP photograph. Maybe shed some tears on her shoulder. But I do not know what I would say to her. I do not think she would want me to say much. The expression on her face matches the feeling I have at the pit of my stomach and in the depth of my heart. I think – I hope – that she would understand how I feel. I can only imagine what she is going through.

Rana at The Pakistani Spectator tries to unfold the facts in his opinion:

1. They came on speed boats from Pakistan. WOW :). Indian coastguards intercept fisherman that cross the maritime borders into Indian waters everyday. Thousands rot in Indian jails and here we have guys with sophisticated weapons entering India and their coast gaurds were fast asleep…….hmmmm fishy.

2. Mumbai police intercepted calls made to/from Pakistan….what idiot would do that?? maybe the Mumbai police. Hey there is my number…come get me.

3. They had the “footprints” of the ISI…..did the ISI leave behind its footprints….hmmm

Jokes apart…so who were behind the attacks?

Where all these rumors were flying around, the Indian mainstream media has nonetheless been irresponsible with the blame game. At my blog Guppu.com I have posted a video of a sensationalist reporting by the Indian media speculating about accents of the terrorists.

On a request of the Prime Minister of India a representative of ISI is to visit India for sharing of intelligence. The Prime Minister of Pakistan has promised his country's full support in the investigation. But still fingers are being pointed out towards Pakistan and the blame game continues. A portion of Pakistani media is playing along with the game inciting rumors.

Nobody is blaming the Govt of Pakistan directly on this..First level investigations & confessions of the sole surviving terrorist have proven that this barbaric episode was scripted in Pakistan..There are many fanatic elements in Pakistan..Lal masjid episode for instance..The recent US operations in Pakistan on terror camps etc..
The crux of the matter is how our both countries can work together & eradicate this problem..Joint operation or sharing intelligence, releasing the fishermen & innocent civilians will help in building CBM’s which were in full swing some years back..The new generations in both our countries have a different mentality..The youth from both Ind-Pak want economic strength, knowledge & exposure..Please understand we were one country half a century back & the same corruption, bureaucracy, red tapism & fatalistic approach runs in our politicians & administrators..We can;t expect change in a fortnight..People from both the countries will have to drive this change..A peaceful Ind-Pak will mean more growth & development for south east asia..
Finally, after the indian Govt provides evidence, the Pak will have to send out a strong message to Ind & the international community by taking stern action against those involved immediately to rebuild the burnt bridges..That will be a defining moment in our peaceful co-existence & harmony..

WELL WHAT IF THEY ARE INDIAN HINDUS ARMY OFFICERS……..
IF A SERVING INDIAN COLONEL CAN BLOW UP THE SUMJHOTA EXPRESS, THE LINK TRAIN WITH INDO-PAK..MURDER 65 PEOPLE.. AND BLOW UP 10 ODD BOMBS IN DEHLI AND RAJHISTAN ..AND OTHER LOCALITIES IN INDIA.. MURDERING FELLOW INDIANS ..JUST SO MUSLIMS GET THE BLAME..AND LATTER BE ARRESTED AND CHARGED BY CBI.THAN WHY NOT THEY BE INVOLVED IN THIS CARNAGE……..NOW REMEMBER ALL THOSES OFFICERS INVESTIGATING THOSE CRIMES(AGAINST THE INDIAN COL) HAVE BEEN MURDERED IN THIS INCIDENT…..
INDIANS SENSELESS PROPAGANDA MEDIA LOVES TO BLAME ELEMENTS IN I.S.I.. WHY DONT THEY EVEN CONSIDER BLAMING THEMSELVES FOR A CHANGE…
    ONE MORE THING……
IF ONLY 15 PEOPLE CAN CAUSE SUCH A CARNAGE.. ONLY 5-8 TERRORIST ARE HOLDING BACK 300 COMMANDOS IN TAJ.
IF 3ODD TERRORISTS CAN HOLD ON AND RESIST 30+ COMMANDOS AND HUNDREDS OF COP ON THE GROUND IN A 5 FLOOR APARTMENT FOR MORE THAN 15 HOURS….AND STILL NOT MANAGE TO SAY THE ALL THE INNOCENT HOSTAGES
AND IF 10 ODD TERRORISTS CAN SAIL FROM ACROSS THE BORDER TO THE GATE OF INDIA IN A STUPID RUBBER BOAT AND NOT BE INTERCEPTED …
THAN THIS RAISES A LOT OF QUESTIONS AS REGARDS THE COMPETENCY OF INDIA IN HANDLING ITS BORDERS AND CAPABILITY OF FIGHTING THE BAD GUYS……THEY SEROIUSLY NEED HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!NOT A TRADITIONAL SCAPE GOAT AND EXCUSE……
MY SINCERE CONDOLENCES TO THOSE WHO LOST THEIR LIVES IN THIS TRAGEDY..

I think this is not the time to blame Pakistan as this could result in tension between India and Pakistan. I am think that the Indian government and media needs to act little more maturely and responsibly. We have seen on several occasions in past when India has blamed Pakistan and Pakistan’s intelligence service but on all those occasions it turned out that the Indian army, police or some security or intelligence agency was responsible for attacks in their own country. These revelations came out of Indian government’s own investigative reports. These are facts which can be checked and not just made up stories as Indian government and press seem to be familiar with! We all want peace, harmony and prosperity. If a neighbouring country is instable, it can cause instability in the whole region. Therefore, both Pakistan and India need to work together to find the culprits and bring them to justice.

Listen guys – there is no need to play good with Pakistan – period, It has nothing good to offer to the world. Give kashmir back first and prove that you have a fcking spine to beign with. Untill then all talks are off. No cutural, no sports exchange with pakis period. They dont have a stable govt. its a bloddy tyrany there, the landlords/dacoits run the country people screwing there own cousins hence the damn gene pool is messed up. So you wont have any sane leader with half ounce of brain coming up any time soon from pakistan. Guess who is there current PM – a crook

who is to blame for the death of the hostages in Mumbai attacks?

Indian government of course. Since when did they taught head-on crash when hostages were held in tactical school. There was not even negotiation, compromises, time-buying and go for the opportunity hit.

The Indian government under pressure for action, sent in their team of “Rambos” and start killing everyone including the hostages. What is the difference between this and bombing the entire building?

The terrorists obviously would kill the hostages because they are panic and hope this can deter further strikes from the authority.

And they (the Indian government) refused any kind of help or assistance from other countries to resolve the crisis, at least if they did, they would not be blame 100%. Now, look at the mess they created.

Another theory doing the ronds is who else but AL QAEDA…if there is a military build up the pressure on the pak western border vl be released…dunno…the conspiracy theory could even go on to argue that ISI wanted to releast the pressure on its friends in afghan border and risked the game….are they so reckless!!!!????welll just think of KARGIL

  • The problem of terrorism is not going to end, so long as there is real or perceived in justice in the world. Fundamentalist Islamic education, media and indoctrination does not cause terrorism but it is certainly at the root cause of world wide terror. Before the world can do anything about the Islamic terrorism, it must unite against those who are speaking out against terror to the world, but behind the scenes are the universal sponsors of the fundamentalist and radical ideology of Islam and promoters of the sharia. Secondly the unbridled capitalism is also causing hardships for masses, capitalism needs reformed and economic justice for masses must be true around the world, not just for the upper middle classes of the whites.

  • Dear friends,

FYI one terrorist was captured and he has revealed he came from Pakistan. We have got enough evidence from their cell phones and GPS system. They are Lashkar militants trained by ISI. Evidences are very very strong this time. Thats enough to satisfy western media of pakistan’s double standards.

    Just ask the questions?
Who benefits? Follow the money. This terror takes people’s mind from the financial crisis.
Which countries are least affected by the global financial disaster? India. If anyone would want to derail India economic strength, rampage killing in Mumbay looks perfect. Just around X-mas when people want to spend time and money in luxurious surroundings, Mumbay would be perfect.
So follow the money and who benefits from a war between Pakistan and India?
This is a 9-11 type of operation.

after reading all the analytical circus above. I am more interested in the actions taken by Pakistan in past, present and future. Pakistan can no more bluff the world.
