Karma Tube [1] is an online video sharing platform to spread short videos and their causes through the World Wide Web with tips on what actions the viewer can take regarding the portrayed cause. Through KarmaTube we bring you Skateistan from Afghanistan [2], Seeds of Light from South Africa [3] and Barrios de Paz [4] in Ecuador.
Skateistan [5] was started by three Australians who set upon teaching the youth in Afghanistan how to skateboard as a novel recreational alternative and a cross-cultural learning platform. The Skateistan skateboarding school was set up on an abandoned pool in Kabul and both boys and girls participate in this non-competitive sport. As a matter of fact, this is what their site's FAQ [6] states:
Half of the students are female, giving Afghanistan the highest rate of female participation in skateboarding of any country in the world.

Seeds of Light [8] is a program started by Leslie Temple-Thurston in South Africa to improve the quality of life in an impoverished community. Drilling a well for water, planting vegetable gardens to improve the immune systems of children, starting computer labs and HIV/AIDS education were some of the projects the community has developed with Ms. Temple-Thurston's help.

Barrios de Paz [4] is a project of Ser Paz [10], spearheaded by Nelsa Libertad Curbelo Cora, who has worked in the barrios of Guayaquil Ecuador with gang members, uniting members from different gangs to work together and work for peace. Nelsa supports gang members from the perspective that kids who join gangs do so out of a need to be a part of a family and in search for support and guidance: when given proper leaders they have the energy and disposition to work in peaceful endeavors, and when given love, they have the power to change for the best. In the 9 minute subtitled video [11] Nelsa speaks about gangs, the psychology of the gang members and how the program has helped teens discover a way out of the violence cycle.
