Bangladesh: Myanmar troop build up

Ghore Baire wonders whether the recent tensions between Myanmar and Bangladesh over maritime boundary dispute and the troop build up by Myanmar near Bangladesh border could delay the impending election in Bangladesh.

Why should we go to war?
People on both sides share the same situations-unstable politics, poverty, and natural disasters.

As a boy, during 70s, I have seen lots of Bangaladesh people surging into our side because of the then war with Pakistan. Some became our friends. I witnessed the sufferers of the war,the ordinary people.

In europe there is no border anymore. It is a big shame if we sacrifice our being neighbour to each other for a long time in this kind of era . Offshore commercial boudries could be settled by mutual patience at any time, if there is will on both sides (governments).

u know what…our gov is doing evrything possible for peace..but ur junta gov is showing no interested in peace process..months ago wen 1 of ur gov man visited BD ,he med a promise that he wont do any exploration in undemocreted water..but months later he just forgot what he sed…and made a aggressive decission…dont u think entering disputed maritime region with 2 warship is aggression? BD felt it a threat…and I am proud of my gov that it dint fire missile to burmise warship which she cud do…instead of showing hater she tried to solve this peacefully…but ur gov gather troops alongside BD border…so u know ..ur pushing us to the limit….

We dun want war between Banglar and Myanmar. Dun be rediculous…and dun show ur unnecessary patriotism here. If you clearly look at this issue, both government want more money…and that’s why they are fighting. The Daewoo coperation has been there for a long time already. Why would Bangladesh just, out of the blue, started raising the issue rite now? Why not long time ago?? Think…people…!!! Think!!

a lot of tricks and conspiricy behind this, and yet…dun fall for anyside. I’m burmese, but i ain’t falling for any site. But if you dun have a brain to think, show ur patriotism and go to hell for your own country for upcoming war….

yo listen, If burma want to fight with BD then its fine.. Bangladesh will give a good war to you guys like we gave it to Pakistan in 1971, Bangladesh have lot of allies always remember that, biggest ally is U.N. So Burmese need to think … before they act.

Both bangladesh and burma were living peacefull for a long period of time.We respect burma as our friendly neighbor.Let’s not think this is our weekness.Do,nt push us to get in to trouble. If, burma that would be a great mistake.Still there is time left, come to your sense and wake up.

    War ! War !

Because of a bunch of greedy Junta and their Masters, oridinary people on both side will suffer. We have been suffering enough. This is not the right time to show any one of us about patriotism. We should be more concern about our own people. It’s all dirty politic and greed, no more. Why should we fall for that ?

I am Burmese and I love my country and my people. I don’t want to see people on both side get hurt for nothing.

From todays news I come to know..burmise troops are setting land mine along border…i thought possibillity of war was over…but looks like it isnt..well my dear burmise frndz…looks like u also dont like ur gov…well at that case…I cant blame burmise people for this stupid war game…may be u can help us out of this tension..y dont u go to street and ask ur gov not to create any more aggression…patriotism is something which none can take out from someone..my gov isnt as stupid as junta gov…and well our people also wont let any dectetor to control our country unless hes actually good…u can see so many examples here in BD..we r powerfull as people…our gov is afraid of us…its true..so I hope u will understand its time for u to take over ur own countrys power..it shuld be a END TIME for junta gov…

    peace

@cozzy: Please don’t make any comments on which you know nothing. According to the international sea territory law set by UN in 1974, Bangladesh has claimed that region to be in our own terriotory since then. Ofcourse, Burma aka Myanmar refused.

@Bamar: We Bangladeshi people share almost similar bonds to Burmese people specially from Arakanese. But like we said, we cannot go to war unless someone drag us into it and there is no alternative for us. I think it is Junta which is the biggest threat to the people of Myanamar and other neighbouring countries. They must be wiped out. But as Ben said they should be wiped out not by any alien forces but by you people. You people needs to stand up and must claim your own freedom and choice and your ownerhip to your country.

    Ben , Asif

That’s what we have been doing for the past 30-40 years and we will continue to do so and will never give up. Remember we Myanmar are peace loving people. This is a way of Junta trying to divert people attention when tension inside country are high. They have forgotten people have changed and no one will fall for that.
