China: Tibetan protesters raise flag outside Olympic stadium

Global Voices OlympicsStill waiting (updating below) for more details, but Qik.com vlogger Noel Hidalgo is at the scene and giving updates via Twitter. Here's a video he took just a few minutes ago not far from the Olympic bird's nest:

Noel has just finished uploading a second video, in which he reports that Chinese firemen have taken down one protester and one appears to be coming down the other pole; no sign of the third protester who was stationed on the ground as seen in the clip above:

Tweet timeline (Beijing time):

Aug. 6 (UPI) — Beijing police say they have expelled four western protesters for displaying “Free Tibet” banners near the Olympic venues.

Two Americans and two Brits were expected to leave China by Thursday.

    Quote:
Why can’t they just abide by the law and go to the “protest spaces” reserved for such purpose? I wonder…Unquote.

    Are you kidding? Ben?

Those protest spaces are for show only.Don’t ever think that CCP mean what they say.

Nothing but sideshows done by clowns.

People who want to mess with the Olympics will have their agendas die inside China for at least a generation.

I do fault the Chinese government for being overtly sensitive. Ordinary Chinese citizens know what’s going on and will not buy the crap those stunt people try to sell.

Yeah!!! A couple of shiny points for sure. Not to mentions the entertainment value.

Thanks SFT! Your attention grabbing stunt sure make the argument that you guys are idiots much much easier.

If you disagree with that assessment, then tell me anything of substance that you guys have achieved — other than scoring a couple shiny points in the eyes of the media back home. Oh, I forget the making your mom and pop feel proud thing.

  • I appreciate that people who support the Tibetan separatist cause are mostly well-intentioned, but there is another side to this issue. Why foment ethnic hatred? Han and Tibetan Chinese have done an incredibly difficult job in breaking the theocracy (as separate from destroying the religion) that kept Tibetans in poverty, ignorance and often actual slavery. Yes, there remain contradictions between Han and Tibetan Chinese, but these can be resolved without restoring feudalism in Tibet. As for know-it-all Americans who have given US citizenship to God, pleeeeeaaaase!!!!

That “hanging flag stunt” activity can be most probably a pre-planned event for their hidden motives ?? Yes ??? No???
They could have been trained for the stunt -how did they climb so high just to hang that “free” banner without any safety measures to safe guard themselves from falling ???
How much have they been paid??? They purposely wanted to flout the rules and regulations ???

16 police officer were killed by 2 uygur minorities in northwest Xinjiang province of china on August. This assult took place in Kashgar, two men driving a truck and hitting the soldiers, killing or wounding 10. They jumped out of the truck, stabbing the soldiers with knives, and then used homemade bombs. The police arrested the attackers, whom they described as Uighurs, 28 and 33 years old. i wonder why there are nobody covers this news here. It would attract lots of comments.

  • “protestors” they say… turns out to be 2 climbers, with only one succeeding, sort of . Aside from this, the smog succeded on preventing their message to be read by passing motorists and bystanders. Btw, this Noel is just pretending to be not in cahoots with them. LOL

What a joke. Student for a free tibet are nothing but monkies that looks for instant celebrity status of fame same as the 3 men claiming to be christians an represent the voice of Chinese? What are they doing ? do they think Chinese are zombies. I am a CHRISTIAN and the moment I saw that I really want to rip his face OFF. If I were there in Tianmen Square, GOD KNOWS I WOULD.

To all chinese. Do not ever ever forget the China smear propaganda machine that western media use to attack china each and every day and I do mean BBC CNN NBC Los Angeles Times etc etc. they are bashing china each and every day. As long as china still raise a communist flag this smear campaign will not stop!

Tibet has been and will always be part of china.
