Armenia/Azerbaijan: Eurovision Success

After yesterday's success enjoyed by the Armenian and Azerbaijani entries in this year's Eurovision Song Contest, Unzipped posts a photograph of Armenia's Sirusho celebrating. In the comments section of the post both myself and the blogger agree that the reason we like the photograph is that “she looks lovely” and that there are “Armenian and Azeri flags next to each other, celebrating success, no fighting, only smiling…” With the conflict between the two countries over the disputed territory of Nagorno Karabakh unresolved, such scenes are rare to say the least, and are perhaps testimony to the underlying purpose of the international song contest.

Well, Im not going to say that I dont like most of the performances at ESC this year. It was interesting show. But I think that the best vocal and show is AZERBAIJANI duet Elnur and Samir. What about fighting with Armenia… I think, the contest is not a place for fighting at all. People fights in the war.
It was a music holiday, and we enjoyed it. I really loved azeri mugham, it was fantastic. Good luck to Elnur and Samir!!!

“the conflict between the two countries over the disputed territory of Nagorno Karabakh” – you got to be KIDDING me! Did you copy-paste this sentence from Azeri propaganda site? If we, Armenians, don’t mention the conflict by it’s proper name – e.g. INDEPENDENCE DRIVE BY ETHNIC ARMENIAN MAJORITY OF KARABAKH – then what do we expect from the confused Western media? Do you really think the conflict is about “winning the territory” from Azerbaijan by Armenia?

Well, I wasnt talking about real name of the conflict and etc. related to the Karabakh conflict. Conflicts, war and all these shit is not really interesting for to talk about. Im just saying that the war must be and it will be Im sure. As a citizen of Azerbaijan Im ready to do my best for Azerbaijan, including being a soldierof the national army of my country. But the contest is not a place for fighting!!!
