The View from Fez reports that General Shaikh Mohammad bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces has participated in the release of 5,000 houbara bustards in an attempt to reintroduce the endangered species to Morocco.

Jill, now I have to go look up what a houbara bustard is. I’m going to assume this is some sort of bird and not some reincarnation of Hoba Hoba Spirit…:) What ecological effects will this reintroduction bring about, do you think?
Lydia, I had to do the same. I have no idea what the ecological repercussions might be; should be interesting to follow.
I looked it up. Apparently this bird is edible. One likely repercussion (and apparently a reason it was already endangered) is that you’ll see a number of them popping up in tajines in the area. Maybe even a bstilla…
