Cape Verde: History of amateur radio service

Jorge Sousa Brito [pt] remembers the infancy of the amateur radio service in Cape Verde, an activity which he grew up with as his father was the first person to take up the hobby in the country.

    Hello,
I found this site through Google search. I don’t know if this is the right place, but here goes. Sorry my Portugese language is not so good.
I am comming to the Islands, early in 2009. I have a U.K. ‘A’ class, Amateur Radio licence. My callsign is G0TJP. thats; Golf, Zero, Tango Juliet Papa.
I am finding it a little difficult to get any information on current “Ham” activity and licencing regulations and how to apply for a permit to opperate whilst visitng.
I will also be investigating a couple of buisness investments.
Anyone with any advice for me?
Thanks, and as It’s Christmas morning as I write, I will wish everyone a Happy, Healthy and Peaceful
    not forgetting, prosperous, new year

I am also visiting the Cape Verde Islands for the second time. Last time I had government permission to operate, but my operation was not accepted by ARRL coz there is no d44/Own call allowed. How does one get a proper call? Does anyone know? Please let me know coz I leave the UK fto sail to South Africa in May/June 2009 and will nee dto set this up before I go.
