The Armenian Observer says that while he can understand why international contacts and friends are wishing him Merry Xmas, he is irritated that Armenians are doing so as well. While the West celebrates Christmas on 25th December, Armenians will not do so until 6 January.

I completely agree. It’s a sad sign of assimilation, and for the 3 generations before myself that quickly adapted to the 12/25 date after moving to the US from Western Armenia – it was normal. For me it was not, I broke the push to assimilate and have gladly accepted 1/6 as my date of observance, and encourage others to do the same.
I am an Armenian living in Melbourne, Australia. I celebrate both 25th December as well as 6th January, even though my family is Greek Australian.
Merry Christmas for the 6th. Sounds strange for a Christmas after New Years !
