This is unbelievable i am so disgusted with the Saudi Gov’t but i am more disgusted at my gov’t the USA for supporting this dictatorship….oh and in case you are wondering i am Muslim and i just have to ask why do the USA support dictators like the Saudi Gov’t, Pakastan, etc

  • Very simple, Mikal – because all governments in the middle east and north Africa are dictatorships and corrupt – except Israel.

The US has no choice. It is only a matter of picking which corrupt dictatorship one wants to support. This is usually called the ‘lesser evil,’ a choice between vile, more vile and most vile. Not much of a choice.

This is what we get for betraying our principles. Bush and our givernment may say it is to fight terror, or for oil, or to promote democracy, or whatever… But the simple fact is that we should not befriend any country that is against freedom of conscience, freedom of speech, religious liberty and does not respect human rights. That means practically the whole Muslim world, in case you haven’t figured it out.

About the poor woman. Well, what is new? This is the result of an ideology that enslaves women with petty, stupid rules and demands perfection while the men exempt themselves from these same rules and restrictions. We all know where this comes from…

  • If you think Saudi Arabia is the “lesser of evils” when in comes to repression in “the Muslim world” then clearly you know very little about this world we live in.

  • Well said, Nadia. John’s comment is very uninformed.
