Brazil: 40 years of Tropicalia

Categories: Latin America, Brazil, Arts & Culture

The most revolutionary movement in Brazilian music and culture has been celebrating its 40 years since October. Sancho's Panza [1] has a brief background of Tropicalia e publishes some videos. He says: “The tropicália movement was to produce some of the most memorable careers in the pantheon of world music, and reshape the relationship between U.S. pop and local music genres the world over. It also launched two of the most successful and globe-spanning music careers in Brazilian history, those of Caetano Veloso and Gilberto Gil”.
