  • Hello Nicholas,

Many thanks for linking to the AfriClassical post on Kwamé Ryan, the Black Canadian Conductor who is in his first season as Music Director of Opéra National de Bordeaux. I hope you and your readers will explore our companion website on African Heritage in Classical Music, http://www.AfriClassical.com Fifty-two Black composers, conductors and instrumentalists are profiled, and over 100 audio samples of their music can be heard at the site, Several of the composers and musicians were born in the Caribbean, including Le Chevalier de Saint-Georges (1745-1799), the fencing champion who achieved great success as a composer, conductor and violinist. Best wishes, Bill Zick
