Some might wonder why Hondurans are referred to as “Catrachos.” La Gringa did some investigating [1] and found an interesting wikipedia article about Florencio Xatruch [2], who led Honduran troops against William Walker in the mid-1800s and, “When referring to the Honduran troops, the Nicaraguan people would say, “here come the xatruches,” which later became catruches, and finally became catrachos.”
