Esteban Grinberg writes in De Todo Un Poco [ES] that Mauricio Macri collected the highest vote total in last week's mayoral election in Buenos Aires. Even though he did not vote for him, “He provided a campaign with constructive discussion, with proposals, and avoiding a dirty campaign. To put a disabled person as the vice-mayoral candidate was a brilliant move. That is why Macri won because he had an EXCELLENT campaign in terms of marketing..”

Mr Avila, I find really interesting to see your post commenting on recent argentine elections. However, I must admit, that to say that Macri won the elections because of a marketing campaign reveals a total lack of understanding of the reigning situation in Buenos Aires and Argentina. If you read the newspapers you will find that there are multiple problems affecting the country (energy shortage, fake economic indexes being published, absurd exports controls on basic commodities, higher taxes schedules proposed, etc..etc., all of them, directly associated to the current Government in power: Nestor Kirchner and friends. The reason why Mr Macri won today has nothing to do with any marketing campaign.
Ignacio, agee with you. I wish Argentinians turns the tide and start to vote for honest and efficient representatives. I also hope that the privileged in Argentina, those that have higher education, speak foreign languagues, know the world, know how to start business, etc, if they come into power, start to behave like their educated counterparts in Sweden, New Zealand, Canada, etc, and put as a priority raising their less fortunate countrymates to the same privileged level tney enjoy, starting first with premium schools, health care, infrastructure, etc in the poorer areas, instead of reaping the benefits of their privileges in shopping trips to Miami, fancier houses in Punta del este , banal and lavish use of their power that will make the tide turn again, and steer the country deep into the third world one more time. It would be in the privilege hand: being humble and caring for their people, or selfish, arrogant and decadent. Do you agree?
