Iran:False Obsession over being Aryan

IranianTruth reports when in the world have Iranians ever obsessed about being “Aryan”? This clearly seems like a modern phenomenon born out a sense of inferiority to Western nations. The man correctly noted that if we look at the vast majority of our past dynasties had no ethnic tie to any Aryan tribe. The blogger continues So for those of you who hold yourselves out as being non-Arabs, Aryans, or Persians…remember your past and your present. To be Iranian is a national identity filled with various cultures and ethnicities, including Kurds, Arabs, Turks, Armenians, and Arabs.

  • Thanks Hamid, here’s a fantastic blog worth looking at as well: http://www.parsarts.com/

  • Absolutely and totally agree. I had a post a couple of months ago about ethnicity in Iran as well. And, more recently on “Kurdish Rebellion”. Like your writing and topics.

  • I just read the author’s original post. While I agree with him/her in parts, I’m yet to come across a “Persian” who calls himself or herself “Aryan” and not Iranian, well, unless his name is actually Aryan or Arian! “Persian” is one ethnic group in Iran. And, there is nothing wrong with calling yourself “Persian” or “Azari” etc.. I think perhaps the author is obsessing too much about “Aryanism”.

Anyhow, I like Hamid Tehrani’s summary more.
