Egypt: Monem will be freed and Amr Gharbeia interrogated

Blogger Abdel-Monem Mahmoud [1] appeared today before the Public Prosecutor who ordered to release him after 45 days in custody [2]. “Monem and his group are expected to be release on Saturday after completing paperwork.” said his lawyer.

Hossam el-Hamalawy reported [3] that the Egyptian blogger Amr Gharbeia [4]has been interrogated today on charges of libel and then released on a LE200 bail. During the interrogation, which will be resumed next Tuesday, “the prosecutor tried to force Amr into handing out the IP addresses of readers who posted comments on his blog, but Amr rightly refused.”.
It is the judge Abdel Fattah Mourad [5] who filed the lawsuit requesting the block of 21 blogs and websites [6]in Egypt.
