“Why, I wonder, don’t the Asian students mingle with the locals? Why is it that the Israelis obsessed with Asia don’t make the effort to try to meet the Asian students?
You see, I know that some of my Asian friends in Israel – and their friends – feel somewhat lonely and isolated here and that they want to meet the locals. I also know that some Israelis would die for a good Asian friend or culture/language-exchange.”

If I recall, Israel signed an agreement with the likes of Thailand on migrant (seasonal labour), that forbid the Thais from having relations with Israelis.
This deal was done through the Thai Department of Labour, or along those’s lines, I have to admit that it must be extremely difficult to police such an agreement, especially with those’s that have lived in the State for some years.
Maybe language is another obstacle for us to mingle with the locals as sometimes ppl dun understand English or poor command of english so they prefer not to speak. On the other hand we dun speak Hebrew. This kind of situation needs some extra effort for us to mingle with the locals. Maybe to some clubhouse or association for sports and recreation as a common interest for the foreigners to mix well with the locals. Maybe You guys as locals can advice on the various avenues to mingle with the locals and hopefully we improve our Hebrew from there.
