Venezuela: Glover's Film to be Financed by Government

Tomas Sancio reacts to the news that the Venezuela government will help finance a movie project by Danny Glover about the Haitian revolution led by Touissant L'Overture. He writes in his blog, Venezuelan Politics, “You have to be really irresponsible to approve such an expense when the same newspaper reports on page 7 about a El Nacional headline declaring that the Misión Negra Hipólita cannot absorb more homeless kids because it is full…We are all for movies about civil rights, racism, etc. But gentlemen, do it with your own money. It's not like it is in short supply in Hollywood.

I often wonder what Chavez is more interested in: improving the lives of the Venezuelan people or playing global champion of social justice. Not that the later is unimportant, but his first duty is to be President of Venezuela
And besides, as Sancio says, I don’t think a Danny Glover-backed film should have any trouble finding money in Hollywood.
Apparently, Mr Sancio supports Abolition so long as he is not taxed to support it. He has cohorts to the North who would gladly enslave Venezuela for cheap labor.

Let me mark this as the first time I’ve been indirectly called a slave supporter.
You don’t have to believe me when I write “We are all for movies about civil rights, racism, etc. But gentlemen, do it with your own money.” and you can conclude that I’m a racist, etc.
But before you judge, I can ask you to do me a favor. Call me when you’re in Caracas to show you 10, 20 or 100 very black people to whom $18 MM could be of incredible help.
