I have used these folks, here in SGN, for years, to care for my MAC’s, with excellent service. Last service just before the Christmas holidays.

Hi, it seems some kind of digg thing “up”. But I’ve just surf over your site.
A lot you (even Vietnamese) did not know about us. Mac users, Mac lovers community in Vietnam.
Just take a few minute to check then you will see.
Hope you love it.

I would like to buy a computer system for my cousin in Saigon. I am comfortable with PC, does anyone have any advice on what I should buy and how do I ship it to them.
Thanx a bundle.
Kathy,
I live in Vietnam. I think your best choice would be to buy the computer from Apple’s Vietnam website (http://store.apple.com/vn) and have it delivered to your cousin. That would get around shipping and customs issues as well as any potential warranty problems.
A MacBook or MacBook Pro would be my recommendation. Don’t be scared by the prices in Vietnam Dong. One US dollar is about 17,000 VND.

Unfortunately I had an accident in Hanoi and my leg was broken so I went home to Australia for two months. My iBook was still under extended warranty provided by the Apple Protection Plan so I was able to have the keyboard and disc drive replaced without charge while I was in Australia. While subscribers to this site are keen to supply Macs there is very little information about the availability of parts and service. Mac user sites can be helpful but they do not supply parts and service when these are needed. For my iBook: if some service had been available in HCMC, I would have had to take my computer there, leave it for the parts to be obtained and the repairs to be made then go back and collect it. Since I live in Hue this means two return flights between the two cities plus time without my computer. I really needed a nearer service point. For this reason I would not consider future purchases of a Mac while living in central Viet Nam.
