Myanmar: Government banned the sale of Remote Control toys

Moe Moe wonders why her cousin asked her to send him a remote control car for his birthday because of the Government decision on banning such toys. “Strange thing to ban toys, really, to stop terrorists from bombing more things in the country. I mean, everyone knows the government itself has been known to set off bombs just to scare people and seriously, why not ban soap as well while you are banning things.”

Sri lanken government also banning the RC toys as well. Most of the people in these governments are fools and they do not know any thing about technology, hobbys and any thing.

  • Around 2002, I posted off (a toy) a small remote control car to Burma as a birthday present for my friend’s kid. It was my mistake. First, my freind had to wait for 3-4 hours to collect the item at the main post office in Yangon. And then the officer came out and said that RC toy was not allowed to import and they had to keep the remote device. Custom fee for car alone was Kyat 600. My friend approached the office…… Finally officer agreed to settle with Kyate 12,000 (appromimately £12 at the time) for the whole set (car and remote control device).
