Syria: Term-end Exams Are Postponed for “Spontaneous” Celebrations

Categories: Middle East & North Africa, Syria, Education, Elections, Governance, Politics

The Ministry of Education in Syria has apparently decided to postpone the exams that happen to coincide with the celebrations of the next presidential referendum. So that the students can take part in the “spontaneous” show of support for the president.
‘The Ministry, guided by the Baath Party, has declared that students, teachers and school administrators “will wish” to take part in the nationwide rallies planned in support of the president on that day. Assad, the sole candidate, is seeking a second 7 year-term in office in a yes or no vote,’ writes [1] blogger Philip I of Via Recta [2].
