IT Buda [ES] links to a recent New York Times article [1] about the substitution of “El Guayacolato” in commonly-found medicines, which led to the deaths of close to 400 Panamanians. The Panama Investor Blog writes that earlier many were concerned that these deaths were caused by a rare virus [2], but now it is becoming apparent that they are due to this counterfeit ingredient.
