As the world celebrates World Press Freedom Day [1], the Egyptian journalist and blogger, Abdel Monem Mahmoud [2], sits in jail after reporting on torture [3] and condemning the transferring of civilians to military tribunals [4].
On this occasion, a number of bloggers and activists from around the world have launched the Free Monem campaign [5]. “ We cannot let the regime succeed in silencing him. We have to show the Egyptian regime that when you imprison a blogger, you don't silence his voice, you AMPLIFY it!” they wrote in their mail announcement.
