True Sri Lankan comments on Amnesty International's campaign. “So shouting at Amnesty International is not going to help Sri Lanka at all. Sri Lanka has to gets it’s act together and face the reality of the situation. Everyone knows that the authorities are claiming that this campaign is aimed at demoralizing the Sri Lankan cricket team in order to get the support of Sri Lankans and shifting focus from the real situation of human rights.”

this amnesty international hypocritical campaign sigling out and targeting the sri lankan cricket team and ignoring english and australian teams is disgusting.
it will certainly not help to improve the human rights situation in sri lanka and only alienate ai from sri lankan public. but ai is not interested in that it only wanted a publicity stunt to raise funds.
The attempt to discredit Sri Lanka on Human Rights issues is an attempt to discredit the country at the wrong venue. It looks like its advocates have a twin headed agenda to discredit its government covering up the excesses of the LTTE and to demoralize SL cricket team at its matches against interested parties.
One must initially realize that the country is at war with the worst terrorist organization in the world. One cannot understand why the same people do not shout with equal enthusiasm at the excess of the US, Briton and its allies in Iraq, Afghanistan, Guantanamo Bay and other places.It is also regrettable that some cricketers of today and of yester-year also participated in the ignoble protest.
What a cheap publicity stunt from Amnesty.
If you need a fund raiser, organise your own, don’t gatecrash the Cricket World-Cup 2007. You will convince nobody with this.
Let Sri-Lankan people from all races and religions enjoy just about the only thing they agree on. Ruining it is abusing their human right. Sports bring people together, don’t spoil it to get your own end.
