Haiti Innovation applauds the implementation of preferential trade status for Haiti via the HOPE Act: “…this is a first step. There is still much to do in Haiti…but let this minor triumph in Haiti’s economic stabilization be a reminder to us all that with hard work, perseverance, and faith, much can be accomplished.”

The HOPE Act may be a good thing, but the most needed Act Haiti needs is “No-More-Republicans-Coup-Against-Elected-Haitian-Presidents Act” Give Haiti a break!. Papa Bush and Baby Bush engineered two Coups against the democratically and constitutionally elected president of Haiti Jean-Bertrand Aristide, and therefore caused the death of tens of thousands of Haitians. Aristide was uplifting te Haitian people with dignity. I don’t see too much hope in the HOPE Act. Sweatshops remind me too much of slavery and exploitation. The HOPE Act is rewarding the coup plotters in Haiti like Andre Apaid, Baker & Co.
Obviously, the person who posted this comment did not live in Haiti during the time Aristide was killing and terrorizing the people who had placed all their faith in him. Only a person living outside of Haiti, not living its reality could post such a comment.
With the help of the HOPE Act and men willing to sacrifice for their people like Apaid, Baker & Co. (instead of taking from them) about 80 thousand to 100 thousand more Haitian brothers and sisters can eat than could 2 years ago!
The person that praises Aristide needs to do their research before making false accusations. Aristide used thugs to terrorize those who democratically opposed his repressive regime. Aristide was also formally accused of looting Haiti’s public treasury. Check out the following sources, the facts speak for themselves:

Haiti Telecom Kickbacks Tarnish Aristide
2) Documentary: Ghosts of Cite Soleil produced by Wyclef Jean and directed by Asger Leth.
3) Book: Michael Deibert’s “Notes from the Last Testament”
Now please, before speaking poorly of Baker and Apaid, please provide some reliable sources of information such as books or documentaries prooving your claims.
Thank you.
