Fairly tale in Chile: Small Giant

giant doll

The famous French “Small Giant” arrived to Santiago, Chile. Many citizens gathere to see this in the centre of the capital. Claudia (ES) introduces us to the concept:

According to the story, a rhinoceros escaped from Africa, passing trough the copper mines and arriving to the big city to be captured by a magic kid from a fairly tale. As Jean Luc Courcoult (Royal de Lux) said , the Small Giant represents the part of us with which we want to find ourselves once again and that becomes real with the sweetness of others. It is magic, fantasy; it is that childlish part that will always live with us (it reminds me of the dedication of The Little Prince to A. de Saint-Exupéry).

Thousands of Chileans attended to see this 5 meter long marionette, even people from outside the capital, like “Gata de media luna” (ES) who described the experience:

When we get out of the underground, we were met with a human sea. Thousands of people were waiting for the marionette, manipulated by humans, to awake and travel around the streets. Like everyone, we wanted to see her. We have a special claim, we traveled especially to see her (OK, and to also take advantage of the trip for another small errand) The crowd was exited! Those who were able to up to climbed on top of buses, trucks, bus stops – nothing escapes the imagination.

Roberto Olivares (ES), couldn’t resist the illusion that this doll made in her sun. As he explains:

The Small giant in Santiago, was one of the most spectacular experiences that I have seen. Up until Saturday I had only seen her on the TV, but the illusion that I saw in Francisca's eyes, made me wake up early on Sunday at 8:00 am despite my fear of crowds, the heat, and the chance of not seeing it, all to be there before 10:00, looking at how this doll that came from the pages of a fairy tale comes to life and stays with us for three long and entertaining days.
