Cory Driver, an American who lives in Morocco, withnessed a hilarious war between the women of a village he was visiting.
“All the grown women.. were throwing grown-women-sized-rocks at each other. The men were mostly just standing around watching; occasionally cheering, occasionally trying to talk some sense into rock-throwers… but mostly just standing around watching. It was the weirdest, funniest, saddest thing i've seen in a long time,” he wrote.

hilarious is not the word i would choose. i regret inserting the word funny. “curious” would have been more appropriate. i meant that to apply to the men dispassionately watching their female relatives. i think the violence is sad. and the acceptance of it by the non-participants is odd to me and maybe even more sad.
lastly, i am a he, not a she.
Oops.. Cory Driver.. Will correct the pronoun immediatelty. Thanks for dropping by and keep us posted with other ‘weird’ sightings in Morocco! It is indeed sad when we become mere spectators as real tragedies unfold in front of our very own eyes. In this instance, being a foreigner (I presume), it would be unwise to get involved between relatives fighting!
Amira, thank you for pointing out this post.
Cory, i appreciate your apology and your courage. i hope we are leaning something from this conversation.
Actually, many people who read this felt disappointed and “betrayed” as morocans and hosts of thousands of volunteers and ex-pats.
when i criticized this post and other posts, was called “racist, anti-western, …etc” (texto) “… seems at best merely to be a prejudicial rant against the west and in particular against those from the west…” well…
Cory, thank you for suggesting other synonyms. political correctness and “fun” sound like two different things to me.
shoukran for reading.
