Nigeria: challenging census figures

Naijaman challenges Nigeria's latest census figures, “Pray, what kind of census portrays Kano as being more populous than Lagos state? Where cows and goats mistakenly counted? Who are those phantoms in Kano? Where are the seaports, banks, oil companies and various industries that make Lagos the eldorado of the unemployed situated in Kano? Are there groundnut pyramids that we have failed to see?”

my dear Naijaman. At first guess, you sound the a broken southern record, complaining about Kano vs Lagos census figures. i haven’t got the time to really go in-depth into the somewhat flawed logic behind your cynicism let me refer you to Simon Kolawole’s treatise on the subject in Vanguard Newspapers. But let me sound a note of warning to the enlightened Nigerians out there… its time we quit arguing the wrong points. Kano vs Lagos, North vs South. I feel like we should ask a few real questions, like how to manage our booming population. it’s not as if universities or hospital or libraries etc have doubled in number to match our growth. No wonder there isn’t enough anything for everyone.
