Says Collectif Haiti de Provence (Fr):”For International Anti-Slavery Day, May 10, 2007, Pour Que L'esprit Vive Association is organizing a series of activities to denounce living conditions in [Dominican] bateys: photo exhibits, roundtables with Haitian and Dominican intervenors, films. Mi compadre Antonio if it were that easy i would be president. Too many interests involved. In regards to having the worst president I can say that no matter who’s up there the living conditions will worsen for the poor. Yesterday I had a conversation with the director of public health and welfare for Mao (area affected by the irresponsible act of opening the Tavera dam in the wee hours of the morning befor TS Olga hit) and he tells me that the Haitians who were being rescued preferred to drown than to be airlifted to safety by army helicopters. We still haven’t heard apologies from the accusers, what’s up with that?
