Chris, the singer is Lennox Grey, the song is “Around My Christmas Tree” (nicknamed “Laughing Children”) and it was done in 1971. I have the song on CD (converted from record), the only catch is that I live in Mississauga/Toronto area in Canada. If you or any relatives are close to me, e-mail me at mrtnt_00@hotmail.com with the subject heading “Laughing Children”.

    Hi All,

It’s great to see I’m not the only one who loved this song as a child and now as an adult. If you’re in Trinidad, there is a music cart (you know, the illegal ones!) right outside of Wonderful World on Frederick Street near Aboutique Mall that is selling a cd with Around My Christmas Tree on it.

I figured out how to e-mail the song. So contact me if you want it. Subject “Laughing Children”.

Ther was this song that i use to always hear in November or so that would confirm it’s Christmas for me, I have the melody in my mind and all I can remember was a few words in the chorus. The lady who sang it sang it in both English and Spanish. what I can remember goes like this. Something Something when you walk out on me, Christmas comes only once a year, and it’s the only time you ever seem to care,Something something. Thqat’s all I can remember. What is the Name, Artist Album? Where can I get it?

Aleaux, the name of the song is “Latin Parang”, done in 1980 by Colleen Grant. I have the song on record (vinyl), and on cassette, but not on CD. You can probably get it online or at a West Indian (Trinidadian) music store.

    Bruce,

I e-mailed Peter with my e-mail and he sent the song to me. I was able to successfully play it on my laptop so it should work for you too. He made my Christmas!
