Blogs & Beers with David De Ugarte

Categories: Latin America, Chile, Digital Activism

David De Ugarte [1] (ES) , a popular bloger in the Spanish-language blogosphere is visiting Chile. He is the founder of Las Indias Electrónicas [2](ES) and creator of Cyberpunk [3] (ES) A few nights ago, David shared time with Chilean blogers with an open invitation, so everyone could attend.

Roberto [4] (ES) posts about his impression:

Anoche, casi 3 años después, tuve la oportunidad de hablar con él, de conversar, de escuchar su terrible relato del 11M en Madrid, de conocer sus planes y llenarme de ganas de acompañarlo en sus aventuras de Las Indias Electrónicas. Es que este español, tan viajado y aventurero, impulsor de muchos proyectos en la red y ciberactivista de excepción, se las trae”

Last night, almost three years later, I had the chance to talk to him, hear his terrible story about the Madrid terrorist bombings, know his plans and to accompany him in the adventures of Las Indias Electrónicas. This adventurous Spaniard, so well travelled, has promoted lots of projects on the web and is an exceptional cyberactivist.

Roberto continues on about the “lyric” and the “epic”. David explained to us that the lyric could build worlds and the epic is always against something, so it disappears when the goal is reached. The net has more to do in getting people together and making positive cohesions in a lyrical way – and that, combined with innovation, it makes people empowered.

Beatriz [5] (ES) , writes that the conversation with others allows us to make reflections and because of this meting she moved on with an idea, that already have a concept: arteCo. This is a collective artwork creation that involves everyone. One only needs to have small squares of 20 X20 cm. The idea is to build a virtual quilt with that. (You can see a slideshow [5] of the 40+ drawings Beatriz has already received.)
