  • I would obviously be careful investing anywhere in South America being from the US, but I believe Panama has some really good things going on right now. It may be a good investment down the road. The government is stable enough that it is not a worry.

  • Panama Real Estate– These guys will tour you around the city and show you hot real estate. I have been looking with them. Though I havent found exactaly what I am looking for yet, I hope they turn out to be honest, so far I have a good impression as they seem professional. If I decide to buy through them, then I will post here again and let you know if the paperwork goes through smoothly.

  • I wouldnt hesitate to buy in Panama but I do recommend that you shop around and do your research. You can find beautifully constructed condos or well priced older houses that just need a bit of a face lift. You just need to shop around to find the best deal. I found a good agent via http://www.real-estate.com.pa that offered low price apartments which I rent. The site is like a multi listing site in English

  • Panama´s most important strenght is its diversity. You can invest either in a modern city, beaches, mountains or even a 300 year old colonial town (Casco Viejo), UNESCO protected.

A little bit for everybody. Check out more about Casco Viejo here:

  • I sincerely believe Panama will become the next Costa Rica in terms of a robust and popular investment property market.

  • Yes, Panama is on the global map now and before long it might become too over run because of the great affordable plots of land.

    A true paradise that awaits.

Can anybody tell me if the prices doesn’t seem a little bit high for LA?

  • Actually, if you are asking about prices for historic cities, Panama isn´t expensive at all compared to its peers. Check out my article here about historic centers and the potential of Casco Antiguo, Panama. It is called 5 Lessons From Real Estate in Europe: http://www.arcoproperties.com/blogs/main/PermaLink,guid,57f30a5e-bd4a-45d3-b364-f2cdeef0a58b.aspx

Patrizia, are you actually saying that Panama is comparable to Rome? I mean, Casco Antiguo is really pretty, dont get me wrong, but it seems a little out there to compare it with Rome… Anyways, I wanted to know about the price regarding the city, like San Francisco, Punta Paitilla, Costa del Este, etc. Can you help me with this :)?

  • The point of the comparison is to show the path that all historic cities near cosmopolitan centers (or that become themselves in the case of Rome a cosmopolitan center) go through and that at the end of the day they become twice as valuable than the “new cities” which can be replicated. It is the same path whether we are talking about Cartagena, San Juan or Rome. Of course, Rome is the perfect example because it has gone so well and because it is so authentic. Casco Viejo has a lot to learn from it, but in its own scale and with Panama´s advantages in the Central American region there isn´t a reason why it couldn´t walk the same walk. Of course, as you point out, it is all a matter of scale and proportion. But the best of Casco Viejo isn´t that it is a pretty place. It is a historic city, unique, protected, at a human scale, with more than 200 years of history and a huge potential on developing value through many angles. It takes a lot more than being pretty to have long term appreciation! =)

Casco is my focus, so I´m sorry I can´t help you out in San Francisco, et.
