Indonesia: Departure Tax Reform

Indcoup is happy that the Indonesian travelers exiting out of the port of Batam no longer have to pay a departure tax. “The tax is equally absurd from an economic perspective. Cos in addition to discouraging Indonesians from going overseas for holidays, the tax also discourages small-scale businesspeople from doing business overseas and making vital contacts with potential foreign business partners.”

  • The Indonesian departure tax still applies; at least the “Fiskal” counter at Batam Habour Bay Ferry Terminal was taking people’s money yesterday.

What silly comments. What do you mean beautiful Indonesia. It is one of the corrupt, immoral, unethical, hypocritical countries in the world. The Rp1,000,000 is just income for the political parties. It is said that 30-40% of the state budgets are ripped off by the politician and public servant and at the local Government level up to 70%. What have you got to be pround about as an Indonesian. You are killing your country and no one cares. You only care about the size of your wallet.
